To enhance public engagement during virtual public meetings, the City has implemented additional features for the public, including the ability to comment live during the meeting. Virtual public meetings, including City Advisory Bodies and City Council meetings, began on March 15, 2020 and ensures the City continues to deliver essential community services during the Shelter at Home Order. Starting Tuesday, April 21st, City Council and Advisory Body meetings will proceed with the following protocol:
Public Comment Options – Community members can provide public comment at meetings in the following ways:
- Verbal Public Comment
- NEW: Community members who have registered for the meeting webinar can participate live during the public comment portions of the meeting using the following instructions:
- Register for the webinar
- Webinar registration URLs will be available on all published agendas.
- Once logged into the webinar
- In the ‘questions box’, please type your name and item number (or public comment) that you would like to speak on
- Once public comment for the item is called, your microphone will be unmuted. You will have three minutes to speak.
- Register for the webinar
- Community members may also call (805) 781-7164 and leave a comment in the form of a voice message. Please state and spell your name, mention the agenda item number you are calling about and leave your comment (3-minute limit applies). Verbal comments must be received by 10:00 AM on the day of the meeting in order to be forwarded to the City Council members and saved as agenda correspondence.
- NEW: Community members who have registered for the meeting webinar can participate live during the public comment portions of the meeting using the following instructions:
- Mail or Email Public Comment
- If received by 3:00 PM on the day of the meeting – comments can be submitted by email to [email protected] or U.S. Mail to City Clerk at 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
- If received after 3:00 PM and up until the public comment period is opened on the item at the meeting – comments up to one page can be emailed to [email protected]. Comments will then be read aloud during the public comment period for the item specified.
Viewing Options – Community members can watch meetings in the following ways:
- Televised live on Charter Cable Channel 20
- View a livestream of the meeting online at: https://www.slocity.org/channel20
- View the Webinar (you must register using a valid email address).
- Webinar registration URLs will be available on all published agendas.
All comments received will become part of the administrative record for the meeting.
