The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County has awarded $10,000 in capacity building grants to five local nonprofit organizations. The goal of the BUILD (building unity, infrastructure, leadership and development) Grant Program is to provide funding for small agencies with a budget of less than $300,000. The Community Foundation aims to strengthen nonprofit organizations with small operating budgets by supporting their efforts to build capacity and improve infrastructure. The following organizations each received funding to address capacity building and overall improvement of services for their clients: Alliance for Pharmaceutical Access Inc., Casa Solana Inc., Feline Network of the Central Coast, San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
“We are pleased to introduce the new BUILD Grants Program in support of smaller nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in our community,” said Heidi McPherson, chief executive officer of The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County.
Last year, The Community Foundation awarded more than $2 million in grants and scholarships, with more than 80% of grant funding remaining in San Luis Obispo County. Support from The Community Foundation continues to grow thanks to the hundreds of individuals, families, local businesses, and private foundations that work with The Community Foundation to advance philanthropy in our country.
