Cuesta-170Local veterans are invited to come onto Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo Campus on March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day – to attend “Luck of the Vets,” a community provider fair. Various local agencies will be on hand in room 5401 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to provide information on local resources and services available to veterans, including:

  • Cuesta College’s Active Minds Club, which aims to increase awareness about issues surrounding mental health by providing resources, encouragement to seek help and a supportive environment.
  • New Life K9s, a local non-profit that trains service dogs for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
  • Waypoint Coaching & Consulting, an organization dedicated to providing free coaching to returning veterans who are re-entering civilian life.
  • Honor Flight Central Coast, an organization created to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices by transporting veterans to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.

“We hope to see many of our student veterans and veterans in the community at this event,” said Cuesta College’s Veterans Affairs Certifying Official Karen Andrews. “And to get people in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, we are encouraging attendees to wear green and are offering a free corn beef lunch to all veterans who attend.”
