ning Thursday, Dec. 4 at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, women’s basketball teams from throughout California will contend for the title of champion at the Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery Cuesta College Women’s 2014 Basketball Tournament. The annual event will be held at Cuesta and runs through Saturday, Dec. 6. Cuesta’s first game in the tournament will be played on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.
The tournament hosted by Cuesta will pit eight teams against one another. With electrifying action, fans will enjoy an exciting experience when these talented players take to the court and display their skill and agility as they compete for the top spot.
The tournament also treats fans to fun prizes and giveaways, including a chance to win free gas during the Phillips 66 halftime shootout. The Phillips 66 Santa Maria Refinery, who hosts the annual tournament, gives fans a chance to come down on the court and demonstrate their own skill as they shoot hoops to win up to $500 in Union 76 gas.
The participating teams include fellow Central Coast teams the Allan Hancock College Bulldogs of Santa and the Hartnell College Panthers of Salinas. The Victor Valley College Rams of Victorville, the Los Angeles Pierce College Brahma Bulls, and the College of the Desert Roadrunners of Palm Desert will travel from Southern California, with Northern California teams the Las Positas College Hawks of Livermore and the Monterey Peninsula College Lobos rounding out the lineup.
