Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham voted to support SB 17, which if signed into law will require drug makers to give prior notice to purchasers before raising prices on prescription drugs.
“The need for transparency when it comes to prescription drug pricing has been long overdue. We will now have the information needed to start addressing the extreme cost of medications. Prescription drug prices are a major driver in increasing health care costs, and this bill represents a step in the right direction. So many of my constituents depend on reliable and affordable prescription drugs, and this bill will increase pricing transparency.”
The bill earned widespread support from consumer and patient groups, healthcare professionals, and business and labor leaders. Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham is a small business owner, former member of the Templeton Unified School Board and Deputy District Attorney, and is the past president of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association. He lives in San Luis Obispo County with his wife Shauna and their four children.
