The Kappa Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi has just reached a community service milestone, 1000 hours of volunteer community service and raising over $1000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County. The two organizations are celebrating the sixth anniversary of their community service partnership.
Delta Sigma Pi members have volunteered and contributed through Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake and Pitch n’ Putt mini-golf fundraising events. Delta Sigma Pi members have served as Big Brothers Big Sisters School Based mentors at both Nipomo and Sinsheimer Elementary Schools.
“We get a lot of volunteer groups from Cal Poly, but few of them are as consistent as Delta Sigma Pi. These students are making an impact in the community and our partnership is beneficial to many local children.” said Tatiana Abundis, the Program Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Delta Sigma Pi plans to remain involved in fundraising, volunteering, and participating in future Big Brothers Big Sisters events.
