The Diablo Canyon Decommissioning Engagement Panel (DCDEP) will hold a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at 6:00pm. The virtual public meeting will be held via Zoom and the group is slated to discuss water resources at DCPP, specifically the breakwater & marina, intertidal area, and the desalination facility. These topics have been of particular interest to local community and economic groups as decisions made regarding these topics will affect the community beyond the plant closure.

Key discussions include:

  • Historical barging from the facility
  • How the breakwater and marina may be repurposed
  • What infrastructure is needed for the desalination facility
  • Understanding the marine resources and the impacts of decommissioning

Representatives from PG&E, SLO County, the State Lands Commission, and subject matter experts will be making presentations and are available for questions. The meeting enables members of the public to directly submit questions to the Panel and offer live public comment and input on the future plans for the DCPP site and surrounding lands. In addition to the live webinar, the meeting will be broadcast on SLOSPAN and local access Channel 21. The public can register to attend the meeting here: https://diablocanyonpanel.org/

The Panel meeting on the storage and transportation of spent nuclear fuel at DCPP, originally scheduled for October 28, has been rescheduled to early 2021.

About the Panel:
