This August 14, Doc’s turns over their parlors to cover operating costs and donates all proceeds from that day to the Scholarship Fund for eligible employees. Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream Lab holds its “Scholarship Day” to bring together community support for their hard-working, college-bound employees and reward them with tuition assistance.

Doc Burnstein’s founder, Greg Steinberger, emphasizes the importance of education to his employees. “We really want to stand behind our commitment to our employees and to their education and career goals.”

Doc Burnstein’s current Chief of Retail Operations, James Simonaro, is a recent graduate from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He has been a recipient throughout his college career majoring in Business Administration. James supported himself working thirty plus hours weekly while attending school. “Throughout my college career I have been living independently and supporting myself solely through work income. I was motivated to pay my way through my college career without entering debt,” he states, “Doc’s Scholarship Fund helped me immensely, I am so grateful.”

Doc Burnstein’s is well known for supporting the community with ‘Fun’draiser Nights, Blood Drives and staff scholarships. As a registered Benefit Corporation and owned by the community, Doc Burnstein’s is committed to bringing more than just smiles with each new location. Steinberger hopes to bring their community-focused business model nation-wide and become the most beloved ice cream across America.
