The Scarlet Ibis performed with Rodeo
The Civic Ballet of SLO is proud to announce the upcoming production of Drew Silvaggio’s all-new original contemporary ballet The Scarlet Ibis, performed with returning favorite, another Silvaggio original, Rodeo.
At the Spanos Theater in San Luis Obispo on April 2nd and 3rd, the Civic Ballet Company Dancers will be performing The Scarlet Ibis and Rodeo, two original contemporary ballets in one show. Based on the short story by James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis takes stage as an all-new contemporary ballet created by Artistic Director, Drew Silvaggio. A story that explores themes of family, acceptance, pridefulness, fragility, and surviving in a world that you may not belong. Performed alongside Silvaggio’s powerful Rodeo, a crowd-pleasing update of the Agnes de Mille classic. Featuring energetic original choreography, a contemporary popular score, and a poignant, timely message about strength, femininity and vulnerability, Rodeo has become a favorite within the Civic Ballet repertoire.
