The San Luis Obispo Friends of the Library (SLO FOL) invites the community to stock up on their summer reading at its upcoming Summer Book Sale, taking place Thursday, June 25 through Saturday, June 27 in the Community Room of the San Luis Obispo Public Library located at 995 Palm Street at the corner of Palm and Osos streets.
With more than 7,500 pre-owned books available for adults, teens, and children, the sale offers a wide selection of genres including fiction, mysteries, children’s books, cookbooks, art, history, travel, and adventure. A selection of music CDs and puzzles will also be available.
Shoppers will find affordable summer reads while supporting the public library. The sale also promotes sustainability by giving thousands of used books a second life rather than sending them to landfills.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm (SLO FOL Member Early Access)
12:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Public Sale)
- Friday, June 26: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Saturday, June 27: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Book Sale Pricing
- Thursday & Friday: $1.50 per inch of books
- Saturday: $5 per bag or $10 per box
SLO FOL members receive early access Thursday, June 25 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm before the sale opens to the public. Community members who are not yet 2026 or Lifetime SLO Friends of the Library members can join at the door or online at https://www.slofol.org/membership/ . Memberships start at $10 for individuals and $20 for households providing an easy way to support the library while gaining early shopping privileges.
The Summer Book Sale is one of three annual fundraising book sales organized by SLO FOL. The books featured have been donated throughout the year and are carefully inspected for condition, sorted by category, and prepared for sale by SLO FOL volunteers.
Proceeds directly benefit the San Luis Obispo Public Library helping fund programs, services, and collections for children, teens, and adults.
