Event will focus on learning to listen well and facilitate key health conversations before and during a crisis.
Our Dignity Health Central Coast hospitals, which include Arroyo Grande Community Hospital (AGCH), French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC), and Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), are pleased to invite local faith and health care leaders to participate in a workshop entitled “Partners in Caring: The Courage to Listen” at FHMC’s Copeland Health Education Pavilion.
The goal of this workshop is to provide resources to local faith leaders of any religious or faith background, and health care professionals who may assist patients and families with making difficult medical decisions. The workshop has been funded by the Archstone Foundation in collaboration with materials from the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California.
“Partners in Caring: The Courage to Listen” is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 15, with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will be held in the third floor Auditorium of the Copeland Health Education Pavilion.
Those who would like to take part in this free and informative workshop are encouraged to register online at: http://thecouragetolisten.eventbrite.com.
Individuals who are a part of a faith community and in a health crisis – whether that crisis is a traumatic accident or new cancer diagnosis – often reach out to their faith leaders for guidance and support. This workshop provides faith and health care leaders with tools to facilitate difficult ethical and end-of-life discussions about values, preferences, ethics, and even the purpose of life. This workshop also provides faith leaders tools to assist in identifying and documenting a person’s preferred care during a health crisis.
