Employment law firm LightGabler is presenting a free employment law seminar “Advertising to Onboarding–How do you legally search for, interview, screen and hire employees?” The seminar will be held Tuesday, February 27 in San Luis Obispo.

This advertising-to-onboarding (“A to O”) guide will help companies make sense of and keep compliant with the laws that affect the hiring process.

In this informative seminar for employers, supervisors and human resource professionals, employment law attorneys Jonathan Fraser Light and Susan S. Waag will discuss the best practices and procedures when bringing in a new hire.

Topics include properly (and legally) advertising job openings, how to mitigate the risk of potential hiring discrimination claims, negligent hiring and other violations, what to include in an application (avoiding any attempt to obtain prior salary history) and questions HR professionals can and cannot ask applicants at the interview stage.

The seminar will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel (333 Madonna Road, San Luis Obispo) from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

A continental breakfast will be served. Attendance is limited to no more than four people per company. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance and can be made by going to http://www.lightgablerlaw.com and clicking on “Seminars.” For questions, call 805-248-7089.
