The French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) Foundation is proud to announce that the seventh annual “Share the Hope” event, held at the Hearst Ranch on April 12, 2014, raised an astounding $314,000. This exceeds the amount raised at last year’s event and now holds the record for most funds raised at any FHMC Foundation event. All proceeds from the event benefit the programs and services offered free of charge to patients and loved ones at the Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) at FHMC.
A special call to action during the live auction raised more than $160,000 for the HCRC’s Endowment Fund, which provides long term support for the Center, ensuring that essential programs and services will continue to provide comfort, support and information to our clients, all at no charge, for years to come. Such generous support of the Endowment will help future cancer patients to turn to the Center for assistance in a time of great need. Over the past seven years, “Share the Hope” events have raised more than $1,230,000 to benefit the HCRC.
The HCRC collaborates with community and physician partners to provide supportive and educational services necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, manage treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience.
All services provided by the HCRC are offered at no charge to clients. Since opening in 2008, the HCRC has experienced more than 40,000 visits and contacts from cancer patients and family members, as well as many community organizations.
175 guests were treated to an evening that featured a champagne reception on an ocean view terrace at Hearst Castle, a gourmet dinner at the Hearst Ranch Dairy Barn, live music by Grammy winning artist Louie Ortega, as well as live and silent auctions.
FHMC would like to thank Steve Hearst for his ongoing support and dedication to the HCRC. The hospital greatly appreciates his many contributions that help make this event successful.
