The Gala Pride and Diversity Center is partnering with the SLO County Public Health Department to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to the public. Free tacos from Corazon 805 Tacos and grocery gift cards will be provided to all those receiving the vaccine.

LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those with additional marginalized identities such as being a person of color or having a physical or mental disability, are at high risk for contracting the COVID-19 virus and the complications that go with it.

The vaccine is safe, and it works.

  • The California Department of Public Health recently reported that out of more than 20.4 million fully vaccinated individuals, 99.95% have not become ill from COVID-19.
  • 57% of our residents in SLO County have been vaccinated, falling behind the statewide rate of 61.3%.

This event is an opportunity to get the vaccine in an LGBTQ+ affirming environment.

  • This will be a welcoming and supportive environment to get vaccinated, get answers to your questions, and celebrate our progress against this pandemic.
  • It’s also a celebration! We’ll have music, a food truck, and more.
  • The first 50 participants will get a $25 gift card to a local store.

It’s healthy to have questions and get answers about any health care, including vaccines.

The Gala Pride and Diversity Center is proud to work alongside the County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department to provide vaccines and to provide trusted information to our community. If you have questions or need more information before you get the vaccine, we encourage you to come out to the event and talk with us. We are here to help you find the information you need.

The vaccine is easy to get, and free.

  • Everyone twelve years and older can now get a COVID-19 vaccine at public vaccine clinics in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, and Grover Beach as well as at pop up clinics and many local pharmacies across the county.
  • Visit www.recoverslo.org to learn more about where you can get the vaccine.

The clinic will be held this Saturday, July 24 from 4-6 p.m.at the Gala Pride and Diversity center at 1060 Palm Street in San Luis Obispo.
