The public and press are invited to attend a two-part celebration honoring all veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 beginning at 2 p.m.
A solemn ceremony begins with a procession of all The Villages veterans into the foyer at Garden Creek as The Battle Hymn of the Republic is played by a live band. A precisely folded American flag will be presented to one of the assembled veterans, followed by a moving keynote address by veteran and newly elected District Attorney Dan Dow. A musical tribute to all branches of the military will then be played by Crustacea Band, ending with our national anthem.
Following the ceremony, a coffee-and-cake reception will be held at Garden Creek while guests peruse the all-day veterans’ display just across the driveway at The Village at The Palms. Here, proud veterans can be seen in photographs from their years of service, surrounded by their medals, dog tags, and other memorabilia, “lest we forget.” Veterans will be on hand to answer questions and greet guests.
