hospice logoHospice of SLO County invites the public to an evening of soulful poetry on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 7-9pm at the King David’s Lodge – Masons of California located at 859 Marsh Street in San Luis Obispo.

John Fox and Jeanie Greensfelder will read from their poems and poems of others with a focus on loss and grief, resilience and healing. Following the reading, there will be an open reading and attendees are invited to bring a poem that helps them in the grieving process. The poem may be one of their own or one written by someone else. They ask that the poem be less than a page long.

John Fox, is a certified Poetry Therapist, the Founder of the Institute of Poetic Medicine and a poet and author of Finding What You Didn’t Lose:  Expressing Your Truth and Creativity through Poem-Making and Poetic Medicine: The Healing Art of Poem-Making. He teaches regularly at the collegiate and post-graduate level and has been leading writing workshops and retreats for the public for twenty four years. John’s work has especially touched people living with life altering illnesses.

Jeanie Greensfelder, MA, AGC is a psychologist and a Hospice SLO Volunteer. Her recent poetry memoir Biting The Apple, captures the human journey from the loss of innocence into the fullness of life. She writes with wisdom and humor, evoking personal memories and responses in readers.
