Which Assembly committee has the biggest impact on our region and why?

The Committee on Housing & Community Development has the biggest impact on our region. This committee and its focus on building standards, homeless policies, natural disaster assistance, among others, are vitally important to giving our citizens a higher standard of living.

Rank the issues in order of importance for our city:

If elected, what will you do to address the issue you identified above as most significant?

If I am elected, I will work to create a housing first policy that will provide permanent housing to those citizens who are homeless. We need to create a system that allows us to house our homeless citizens, so we can provide the help they need to begin thriving in our state. I will also work towards de-commodifying housing in the state. There is no reason homes should cost so much that even the wealthy are beginning to be unable to afford them.

Do you think the state government is doing enough to support housing in our region? If not, what would you do to change it?

No, the state is not doing near enough. I would cap rent, de-commodify housing, and push for Yes In My Backyard policies to ensure plentiful, affordable, housing can be constructed throughout the state, and work towards ensuring all people could afford a home in California.

Which theme in the Chamber’s economic vision, Imagine SLO, do you think deserves the most focus in the next four years and why?

We Before Me Imagine SLO

I believe We Before Me must have the most focus. By prioritizing fixing the homelessness crisis, while ensuring that our communities have the resources they need to not just exist, but to thrive, is absolutely essential. In order to conquer these issues, we do all need to come together and realize that while no one of us alone can solve this, together we can accomplish so much.
