Dear Chamber members,

As we begin our 110th year, there is one thing I know for sure: business leaders like yourself are the lifeblood of our organization. And, as the owner of a small business, I hope to be a voice for the almost 70 percent of our membership that have thriving small businesses throughout our county.

Brimming with dedicated, thoughtful volunteers, a trusted, energetic staff and led by a terrific board of directors, your Chamber will continue to honor our long, rich history of more than a century of success that has been made possible because of people like you, while also exploring what’s possible for our future.

So what is possible for our Chamber in 2015?

Job one is to ensure the Chamber continues to be a forceful and effective advocate for your interests.

To support the Chamber’s mission, I see three areas of focus:

  • We need to continue to expand services that help your businesses. I want to explore ways to leverage some of our most effective programs, like our Visitor Center, Leadership SLO, and Insight Studio, to serve you in new, different and better ways.
  • We want to enrich the experience of our volunteers. As we evolve our committee structure we look to provide meaningful involvement that will strengthen the connection between the Chamber and our members, while continuing to bolster the Chamber’s advocacy efforts.
  • We want to ensure the ongoing vitality of the Chamber by making a concerted push to effectively represent up-and-coming businesses and harness the energy of their entrepreneurial founders.

It is truly an honor to serve as your Chair and I look forward to evolving the Chamber’s service to our members, partners and to the broader community.

I know one thing that’s possible for the Chamber: it has the power to transform lives.  And each time we do that, we help build a stronger and healthier community.

I invite you to join us in the quest of creating the best possible environment for people to live, work and pursue their passions in the place they love.

Working together, this is what’s possible.

I look forward to a year of thoughtful evolution, big ideas and collaboration.  Please feel free to contact me directly [email protected].

Sincerely,
Cheryl Cuming
