The Association of Fundraising Professionals San Luis Obispo County Chapter (AFP SLO) is pleased to announce the annual celebration of National Philanthropy Day (NPD) in San Luis Obispo County. NPD is a special day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy makes to our society and world. A NPD luncheon will be held on November 16, 2017 to honor local philanthropists and volunteers in recognition of their dedication and commitment to helping others in our community.

Tim Bennett who recently retired as President of Harpo Productions will be the keynote speaker. Bennett helped manage and grow Oprah Winfrey’s businesses and philanthropy for more than two decades. He also oversaw the development of Oprah’s Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is a successful boarding school for girls.

Non-profit organizations and local businesses are encouraged to attend and bring a special volunteer, donor or employee who has made a difference in our community. There will be a moment at the luncheon to recognize these philanthropic heroes. Scott Daniels, KSBY Morning Anchor, will emcee the event.

“This is a day to celebrate and recognize all those who give their time and treasure to help others and make a difference in our community,” said Monica Grant, president, AFP SLO board of directors.

The luncheon will be held at the Madonna Inn from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Tickets are $50 per person, $400-$500 for a table sponsorship or $1000 for a Friend sponsorship. To purchase tickets or sponsorships, visit www.afpsloco.afpnet.org. For more information, please email [email protected].
