Each year, Doc Burnstein’s joins with Make-A-Wish® Tri-Counties setting big goals to raise money for granting wishes to local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Wishes instill a sense of hope, strength and courage during a difficult time for a critically ill child and their family.

This year, Doc Burnstein’s partnered with Make-A-Wish® Tri-Counties and local wish kid, Simon, to make the 2019 Scoops for Wishes featured flavor. Simon, age 10, suffers from a gastrointestinal disorder and his wish was to go to Disneyland® with his family. His original concoction, “Plasma Swirl Crunch” is a mixture of Cake Batter Ice Cream, Nerdsä candy and a swirl of blueberries. This flavor is a nod to his favorite cinematic series, “Star Wars” and is truly a tasty treat!

“It takes the community and dedicated partners like Doc Burnstein’s to grant life changing wishes. We are grateful for the important role these partners play in helping deliver our mission,” says Make-A-Wish Tri Counties CEO, Pattie Mullins.

On April 29 Make-A-Wish® celebrates “World Wish Day,” and Doc’s will celebrate and launch this important, annual fundraising campaign. Simon himself will come to the San Luis Obispo Parlor to share his excitement and flavor creation from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with Central Coast fans.

It costs approximately $5,000 to fund the cash cost of just one wish. In 2018 Doc’s matched and exceeded the past year’s record, raising $20,000 and granting an incredible FOUR wishes to local children! The campaign money can be raised several ways:

  • Individual donations at the register in all stores
  • Online at docburnsteins.com
  • $0.25 per scoop sold of Simon’s “Plasma Swirl Crunch”
  • Employee and shareholder donations
