Local companies, The Mountain Air and iFixit, are celebrating the outdoors and repair by co-hosting San Luis Obispo’s first ever The Mountain Air Repair Fair. On Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., they invite the community to bring their broken outdoor gear and garments to The Mountain Air store on Marsh Street. Repair technicians (including the iFixit team and Patagonia’s Worn Wear representatives) will help people of all ages fix their things.
Have a jammed zipper on your down jacket? They’ll fix it. See a nasty tear on your sleeping pad? They’ll help you patch it up. Got a day pack with a missing buckle? Don’t you worry, they’ll teach you how to sew on a new one. Whether folks have hiked up Bishop’s Peak once or braved the Pacific Crest Trail multiple times, their things have stories. Awesome stories. And they believe that worn out gear and garments should last as long as possible.
Don’t have anything to repair? Not a problem. Adults and kids are invited to learn about repair and sustainability during our three tutorials held throughout the day: Zipper & Buckle Repair, Tent & Sleeping Pad Repair, and Apparel Care & Boot Repair.
Get ready for the 2016 backpacking season and join them for a day of repair!
