Mission Community Services Corporation (MCSC) has been awarded the SBA’s 2020 Women’s Business Center of the Year for the San Joaquin Valley and Central Coast region. Fresno SBA District Director Dawn Golik says, “We are proud to recognize the impact they’ve had helping small businesses across San Luis Obispo, Kern, and Monterey Counties. MCSC is a key SBA partner.”

Founded as a non-profit organization in 1998, Mission Community Services Corporation (MCSC) has hosted the SLO Women’s Business Center since 2006.  In these 15 years the WBC has become a cornerstone resource for budding women entrepreneurs in the San Luis Obispo community. Despite the pandemic, they continue to help entrepreneurs launch their businesses successfully. Owner Carole Brown of Gold Coast Express Registration shares her experience with the SLO WBC, “I am blown away and emotionally connected to the Women’s Business Center and I will continue to be a part of it for the life of my business. It was a dream come true connecting with the Women’s Business Center.” Carole successfully launched her business on May 4th, 2020 and is growing steadily.

The MCSC’s Women’s Business Center continues to help many clients like Carole in San Luis Obispo and neighboring counties. In recent years, the WBC has been emerging in Kern county and has begun to expand in Monterey county.

Although the pandemic has driven many small business owners out of business MCSC’s Women’s Business Center has pressed into multiple communities even more, celebrating its 15th year with multiple client successes and restoring hope for 2021.
