This year marks a very special Doors Open California, as they recognize the Centennial Anniversary of The Monday Club! Join them Sept. 28-29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for this annual tour highlighting some of the most remarkable architecture throughout California, including The Monday Club in beautiful San Luis Obispo.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony in partnership with the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce will be held at the clubhouse on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. a new educational film, “The Story of the The Monday Club and the Women Who Built It,” will premiere at the clubhouse, produced by Emmy Award winning Robin Smith of Health and Harmony Media. The production of this film is made possible through partnerships with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education and Pacific Gas and Electric Co.
Following the film screening, Julia Morgan expert and author Victoria Kastner will lead a discussion about the famed architect and her connection with the club. Ms. Kastner is the author of Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect.
While at the club, enjoy a living history docent tour, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday September 28, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday September 29. Tours begin approximately every 30 minutes. When you enter the iconic doors of The Monday Club, docents will take you back in time to the 1920’s and 30’s, while viewing the beautiful architecture, murals and gardens.
