People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has received two incredible funding opportunities from the County of San Luis Obispo to support the continuation and expansion of their Supportive Housing Program. The Board of Supervisors have designated $200,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act Grant Program and an additional $30,000 through the Community Based Organization and Preventative Health Grant Program.
To meet the needs of PSHH residents, the Supportive Housing Program combines compassionate property management with service-enriched housing. The program currently offers free, confidential, clinical case management and onsite care to over 5,000 residents in three counties. To meet additional demand, PSHH partners with over 70 area agencies, which connects community members to local resources and area wellness programs. These partnerships include: health screenings, counseling, mental health support, food distribution, rental assistance, wellness seminars, and more.
“We are so grateful for the continued dedication and partnership of the County of San Luis Obispo,” said Rick Gulino, PSHH Director of Neighborhood Development & Resident Services. “This new funding will provide our residents with greater independence, access to resources, and overall support through the care of our Supportive Housing Program.”
The American Rescue Plan Act Grant Program was a one-time funding opportunity from the County of San Luis Obispo which made available up to $3 million for non-profit organizations to respond to the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The program is intended to provide support to State, territorial, local, and Tribal governments in responding to the economic and public health impacts of COVID-19 and in their efforts to contain impacts on their communities, residents, and businesses. The additional funding provided through the Community Based Organization/Preventive Health Grant programs is aimed at supporting local projects that support and complement the efforts of the County’s health and human services departments in promoting the health and well-being of the community.
