What started as a passion for massage, has now expanded into the fitness side of the wellness industry. In 2017, Clay Van Schoyck started Empower Sports Massage out of a local gym in San Luis Obispo. Five years later, along with Pilates instructor Casey Canino-Van Schoyck, the dynamic duo is hosting the Grand Opening of their new fitness facility at 187 Tank Farm Rd. The event will be on Saturday, January 14th with food and drinks from local brewery, Oak and Otter. There will be games, giveaways, and chair massage from the therapists at Empower Sports Massage.
The gym specializes in two different fitness modalities; Pilates with the Reformer, and Kettlebells. Hosting small group classes and private training, the goal of Empower Fitness is to make their clients stronger and more confident especially in controlling their life and claiming their strength. With the help of members from the Central Coast Parkinson’s Association, the gym has also added fitness classes for Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions. Empower Fitness is an expansion of Empower Sports Massage on South Higuera Street.
