Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County (Habitat SLO) is thrilled to announce the success of its 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign. Thanks to the generosity of the community, $6,525 was raised, surpassing the $5,000 goal. These funds will directly support the Home Preservation Program, which provides minor repair services, painting and yard maintenance to local homeowners in need.
The primary focus of the Home Preservation Program is to address safety, accessibility and health so that older adults can independently age in place with dignity in their own homes. “Every dollar raised on Giving Tuesday helps us to provide paint and supplies for projects that transform lives and homes,” said Nick Rasmussen, CEO of Habitat SLO. “Ensuring that seniors can age in place safely in their own homes is part of our mission, and one way that strengthens neighborhoods throughout San Luis Obispo County.”
“Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of our donors, both during Giving Tuesday and throughout the year,” said Dawn Smith, Director of Development for Habitat SLO. “Your support empowers us to serve our community. If you or someone you know is a senior homeowner in need of exterior painting or minor repairs, please apply.” Applications for assistance and more information can be found at habitatslo.org.
Contributions can still be made to Habitat’s mission by visiting habitatslo.org. Every donation helps build homes, communities and hope.
Habitat SLO is a Habitat for Humanity International Affiliate. “If you are committed to helping local senior citizens safely age in place, increasing affordable housing options and building healthy communities, supporting Habitat SLO means your dollars stay local,” said Smith. “Reach out to me at [email protected] or 805-316-1192 and join us in building hope in SLO County.” Gifts stay local and can be made in honor or memory of friends, colleagues and loved ones.
