The Marian Regional Medical Center Foundation announced that the ninth annual Day of Hope event raised $344,720 in support of local cancer patients at Mission Hope Cancer Center. This year’s event revenue total exceeds last year’s event outcome of $316,000.

In addition to celebrating the event’s revenue outcome, the below community members and teams were recognized for their exceptional fundraising efforts. There are two categories for Day of Hope fundraising teams—Company Teamsembrace their company name and the company’s team effort to fundraise for the cause, whereas Friends and Family Teams are led by an individual or a family.

Day of Hope 2022 Top Company Teams

  • First place company team: Rugged Radios
    Team revenue total: $57,350
    Team leader: Taryn Teclaw
    As a company, Rugged Radios not only fundraised online and sold newspapers, but also held their own Day of Hope fundraiser which raised $51,335 – the largest single Day of Hope donation to-date.
  • Second place company team: Rancho Harvest 
    Team revenue total: $12,507
    Team leader: Jessica Manriquez
  • Third place company team: Mission Hope Cancer Slayers 
    Team revenue total: $6,107
    Team leader: Cynthia Maldonado

Day of Hope 2022 Top Friends & Family Teams

  • First place friends and family team: Passion for Color
    Team Revenue total: $25,030
    Team leaders: Angelica Gutierrez and Monica Barragan Navarro
  • Second place friends and family team: For the Pink Ribbon 
    Team revenue total: $12,265
    Team leader: Meredith Rodriguez
  • Third place friends and family team: Team Phoebe and Madi 
    Team revenue total: $7,753
    Team leaders: Phoebe Jaeckels and Madi Will

“Thanks to overwhelming support from our local community, the ninth annual Day of Hope event was a great success, far exceeding the event’s revenue goal,” shares Jessa Brooks, Vice President of Philanthropy, Marian Regional Medical Center. “All Day of Hope event donor contributions are directly applied to patient assistance needs and the programs and services at Mission Hope Cancer Center, bringing vital support to local cancer patients and families in need.”

The ninth annual Day of Hope took place on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, and in addition to newspaper sales, the event included a community car parade.
