The SLO Greek Festival generously donated of a portion of its proceeds to two local charities this year. The SLO Noor Foundation and the SLO Food Bank were selected as the 2022 recipients. “Since Greek hospitality includes caring for, and feeding people it seemed only natural to give to these two outstanding local not-for-profit organizations”, Costopoulos Weeks stated. Thanks to the efforts of the 2022 Greek Festival sponsors, volunteers and attendees, both organizations received a check in the amount of $5,000.
The 13th Annual San Luis Obispo Greek Festival was held on Saturday, June 4th and Sunday, June 5th, 2022, and is sponsored by St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. In previous years the event had been held at the Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo. This year, for the second time, it was held at the beautiful Madonna Expo Center.
“It was a huge success”, said Jean Costopoulos Weeks, Festival Chair. “Those in attendance included not only people from San Luis Obispo County, but also from as far away as New York, Greece and Germany!” Approximately 2,000 people attended each day.
