The San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre is delighted to announce its heartwarming production of “A Christmas Story,” running from November 30 to December 22, 2024. Directed by Kevin Harris, this beloved holiday classic promises to enchant audiences of all ages with its nostalgic charm and festive spirit.

Based on the iconic 1983 film and Jean Shepherd’s semi-autobiographical stories, “A Christmas Story” transports theatergoers to 1940s Indiana, where young Ralphie Parker dreams of receiving a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Narrated by the adult Ralphie, the play follows his hilarious and touching escapades as he navigates school bullies, a quirky family, and the overwhelming desire for the perfect Christmas gift.

Director Kevin Harris brings a wealth of experience and passion for storytelling to this production, ensuring a faithful adaptation that captures the essence of Shepherd’s original narrative. From the whimsical set design to the nostalgic costumes and evocative lighting, every detail has been meticulously crafted to immerse audiences in the magic of a 1940s Christmas.

The talented cast, led by Ben Abbott as Ralph Parker, embodies these beloved characters with warmth and authenticity. Together with a dedicated production team and the support of the San Luis Obispo community, the San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre promises a theatrical experience that will leave audiences laughing, reminiscing and celebrating the joy of the holiday season.

“We are thrilled to bring ‘A Christmas Story’ to life on our stage each and every holiday season,” said Harris, also Managing Artistic Director of San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre. “It’s a timeless story that resonates with audiences of all ages, reminding us of the magic and wonder of Christmas. We invite everyone to join us for this festive production and create lasting memories with family and friends.”
