The Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County is pleased to announce its new $10,000 grant award to Cuesta College to fund Assistance League’s new philanthropic program, the Access to Career Education (ACE) grant. The grant will provide funding for required tools and materials to Cuesta College students in need who are enrolled in career education/trades programs.
Assistance League’s Board of Directors and membership are excited to begin offering this new philanthropic program. In its rich 28-year history, Assistance League has provided new school clothing to over 38,000 students in need through its Operation School Bell® program which remains its primary philanthropic program. Assistance League’s president, Bonnie Long, expressed “the Chapter is pleased to partner with the Cuesta College Foundation, as we feel our new ACE grant is a perfect match with our Operation School Bell program, as it encourages students to continue their educational pursuits beyond high school.”
Shannon Hill, Executive Director of the Cuesta College Foundation/Institutional Advancement, noted “Cuesta College is so grateful for this generous gift from Assistance League. This gift will fill gaps in financial aid for our career-focused students to pay for items like equipment and materials in highly specialized fields. We are excited to work with Assistance League to expand assistance for students continuing on at Cuesta College.”
Assistance League is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization with no paid staff dedicated to fostering academic success by boosting self-esteem and improving the lives of students in our County.
