Summer is here, and it’s time to soak up the sun with City of SLO Parks & Recreation activities! Whether diving into art, riding a horse, or scoring goals on the soccer field, we’ve got an action-packed lineup of family-friendly fun to keep summer buzzing. From camps and evening activities to exciting senior events and new adventures around SLO, there’s something for everyone—make it a season to remember!

All Ages Events
Monday Meet Ups
Select Mondays June – August 2025
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Start the week off right with a Monday Meet Up event! Visit one of the City’s local neighborhood parks and enjoy great food and even better company. Buy dinner from the variety of local 805 food trucks, or bring your own and play free games provided by SLO Parks & Recreation. Bring chairs or blankets.

Family Trivia

Family Trivia starts back up on June 18 and will be hosted in the SLO Senior Center Main Room. Show off your knowledge and enjoy the friendly competition to win a prize. Trivia questions will vary from history, math, science, pop culture and more!

Super Rec Saturdays
Saturdays, July 12 & 26, and August 9, 2025
12 – 6 p.m.
Get ready for a splash-tastic time at Super Rec Saturdays! Dive into a whole day of recreational swim with a thrilling obstacle course, daring diving boards and non-stop activities all set to your favorite music!
Swing by the SLO Swim Center and don’t forget to don your superhero costume for the annual Superhero Parade at 1:30 pm., Cannon Ball Contest at 2:30 p.m., and a Balloon Toss at 3:30 p.m. Plus, tasty refreshments and food will be available to keep you fueled for the fun. Camps & Classes for Youth
Arts & Crafts Summer Camp

Join Arts & Crafts Club instructor, Kendra Bowling, for a fun Arts & Crafts Summer Camp at the Meadow Park Building.
This is a great opportunity for young artists to embark on an exciting journey of painting, drawing and crafting while using a wide range of mediums. The camp will include themes ranging from under the sea to space odyssey!

Challenger Sports Soccer Camp

Horse Riding Lessons
Monday – Thursdays, July 7 – 10 & July 21 –24, 2025
5 – 6 p.m., 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., & 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
This new class, in partnership with Morning Star Equestrian Center, will introduce youth to horses in a safe and positive environment. Youth will learn basic safety, tacking, and riding skills. Mommy & Me classes also available!

Science-Dipity Bubble-ology Camp
Monday – Friday, July 21 – 25, 2025
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Youth will not just study soap, but will conduct exciting experiments with air and water, too. They’ll also design and construct artifacts to show and teach friends and family about bubbles: cubic-bubble frame, model lung, air cannon, giant-bubble maker, hole-in-a-bubble, “the bubbler” and the “soap boat”.

World Cup Summer Camp
Monday – Friday,

This camp will provide training that will help players perform at the next level. The morning sessions are dedicated to technique training and developing high-level skills. In the afternoon, campers can practice their learned skills, improve their strategy and enhance their tactical understanding of real game scenarios.

Embark on guided tours of various local businesses and attractions in the San Luis Obispo area. Immerse yourself in a journey of discovery, gaining valuable insights into the diverse offerings within your community!
This program is designed to not only foster a sense of connection among seniors but also to provide an educational and enjoyable experience.
This is a free program for anyone 55 years or older, people younger than 55 are welcome to join someone who is 55 or older.

SLO Hikers

If you’re looking to enrich your senior years with invigorating walks and the camaraderie of fellow outdoor enthusiasts, consider joining the SLO Hikers program. This program is great for exploring the scenic environments of San Luis Obispo City and County.
Tailored specifically for individuals aged 55 and older, SLO Hikers offers a wonderful avenue for healthy exercise, meeting new friends, or making new connections!
