The City of San Luis Obispo has published its Budget-in-Brief Fiscal Year 2025–26, offering interested community members a clear, easy-to-read summary of how the City plans to spend its $217.6 million balanced budget.

The brochure is available now at City Hall, public counters and online at www.slocity.org/Budget.

Amid slowing revenue growth and rising costs, City leaders successfully closed a projected budget gap without service cuts, thanks to the creativity, discipline and teamwork of City staff. The result is a fiscally responsible budget that continues to support top community priorities such as public safety, housing, neighborhood livability, sustainability and economic resilience.

“Our Budget-in-Brief is a great way for community members to see how the City is using resources to deliver real value,” said City Manager Whitney McDonald. “We’re proud to have balanced the budget during uncertain economic times while keeping every department moving forward and continuing to invest in what matters most to San Luis Obispo.”

The Budget-in-Brief is part of the City’s commitment to transparency and accessibility, giving residents a quick and informative look at where City funds come from, how they’re spent, and how resource allocation decisions align with the City Council’s adopted goals, which are heavily based on priorities identified by the community.
