Surfing For Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those affected by cancer through the healing power of surfing, is pleased to announce its upcoming Cancer Survivor Surf Camp. The camp will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Pismo Beach, California.
This free camp is open to men and women who are currently undergoing or have completed cancer treatment, as well as their caregivers. Participants will experience the therapeutic benefits of the ocean through a day of gentle activity, camaraderie and support. Surf instruction and all equipment needed is provided by Pismo Beach Surf Academy and supported by Surfing For Hope volunteers.
The day’s activities will include:
- A gentle yoga session on the beach
- Surf lessons on the sand, followed by in-water instruction
- Lunch on the beach
- A discussion on survivorship, cancer treatments and available resources, led by Dr. Tom Spillane and Bob Voglin

This camp offers a unique opportunity for survivors and their caregivers to connect, find strength and experience the joy of surfing.”
Surfing For Hope aims to inspire hope and promote well-being for individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer. Through events like the Survivor Surf Camp, the organization provides a supportive community and access to the therapeutic benefits of the ocean.
