Time is running out to take part in one of San Luis Obispo County’s most creative community competitions. Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County is issuing a last call for participants to join the ReStore-It Challenge before the entry window closes, all it takes is a $20 purchase and a little imagination.
Now underway at both the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo ReStore locations, the ReStore-It Challenge invites community members to purchase a pre-selected furniture piece for just $20, take it home, and
transform it into something extraordinary. Whether through restoration, redesign, or a full creative
reimagining, participants are encouraged to document their process and share their journey on social
media using #ReStoreItChallenge and tagging @HabitatSLO on Instagram.
“Every day at the ReStore, we see the potential in donated items,” said Stephanie Wright, ReStores
Operations Manager for Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo County. “The ReStore-It Challenge invites
our community to see that same potential, get creative, and show how reuse can be both impactful and
inspiring.”
All completed pieces must be returned to a ReStore location by April 1, 2026, where they will be
displayed for public voting — both in-store and online. Customers and community supporters will have
the chance to vote for their favorite transformation before the winning entries are announced at
Habitat SLO’s Earth Day celebration on April 18, 2026. First, second, and third place winners from each
ReStore will receive a gift card.
After voting concludes, participants may reclaim their piece or choose to donate it for sale at the
ReStore, with proceeds supporting Habitat’s mission to build strength, stability, and self-reliance
through affordable homeownership.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this one-of-a-kind celebration of creativity, sustainability, and
community. Stop by the SLO or Paso Robles ReStore today to pick up your furniture piece and get
started.
