Verdin Marketing will be granting free marketing services to a SLO County “changemaker” as part of the agency’s annual Give event.
In 2014, San Luis Obispo-based marketing firm Verdin launched an annual event to give back to the community. Over the past eight years, Verdin and their many community partners have cumulatively donated almost $750,000 in services to local nonprofit agencies. This year the winner will receive $20,000 in marketing services from Verdin, plus additional donations from community partners based on what the organization needs most.
The event started as the 24-Hour Give, where a local nonprofit was given a full rebrand for free, literally within a 24-hour period. In 2020 the community-minded marketers had to evolve, since having a large group together in an indoor office environment for an extended period was not feasible. “We wanted to continue our tradition of giving back as a kickoff to the holidays,” explained Verdin President, Mary Verdin. “So, we partnered with Transitions-Mental Health Association to raise awareness of Central Coast Hotline, a free service that saw an increased need during the pandemic, with more people seeking support than ever before.” In 2021, the Verdin team held the Day of Giving where they volunteered at three SLO County nonprofits.
Now Verdin announces the 2022 Give Project: Changemakers. The Verdin team gathered nominations of individuals or organizations that are doing great work that makes a difference but are under the radar. “If we can help raise awareness for these organizations and help make their efforts more
successful, well, that’s what it’s all about,” Mary Verdin said.
The four finalists for this year’s Give Project: Changemakers are: SLO Overdose Awareness Day, SmartShare Housing Solutions, Spanks Airmen and StoryLabs.
As in past years, the community is invited to vote on which organization will be selected for this year’s Give award, by visiting Verdin’s Give website. Each organization has an “About Us” video on the website, and individuals can vote once every 24 hours from October 21-28. The winner will be announced on November 1 through Verdin’s website, e-newsletter and social media channels, and the Give launches on November 11. This year’s recipient will receive marketing materials based the needs of the organization and their goals. Verdin will share the results of all efforts after the Give wraps up, in early January.
