The San Luis Obispo County Veterans Services Office (VSO), Cambria American Legion Post #432, and Cambria American Legion Post #432 Auxiliary are jointly announcing a family-friendly pop-up resource fair and pancake breakfast for Veterans and their families along the Northern Coast of the County. The event is scheduled for August 19th from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM at The American Legion post located at 1000 Main St, Cambria, CA.

“The San Luis Obispo County Veterans Services Office believes in the principle of ‘meeting Veterans where they are at’,” said Morgan Boyd, the County Veterans Services Officer. Boyd emphasized that recognizing the busy lives of Veterans, the VSO aims to provide comprehensive resources at these events, ensuring a strong connection to all available resources across the County.

The primary objective of the resource fair is to offer a convenient hub for Veterans and their families to access a range of goods and services, facilitated in collaboration with state and federal assistance programs as well as various vendors. These vendors encompass financial, medical, employment, and housing assistance and counseling, VA resources, local food banks, senior, mental health, and other general resources for Veterans and their families.

Admission to the event is free. Additionally, The American Legion will host a pancake breakfast for $10, comprising eggs, sausage, orange juice, and coffee. As a special gesture, the County of San Luis Obispo’s Veterans Services Office will provide breakfast to the first 40 Veterans who visit their booth.

The County VSO routinely organizes these pop-up resource fairs at diverse locations within the county, enabling Veterans to conveniently access the help and assistance they require. Kendra Scott, Outreach Coordinator and Veterans Service Representative with the County’s VSO, stated, “Our mission is to extend these events across the County, ensuring that every Veteran benefits from the resources and awareness of Veterans’ benefits. By varying the locations of these resource fairs, we intend to cater to the unique needs of every Veteran.”
