Join Orchestra Novo for their 3rd annual Labor Day Weekend Pops Concert on Sunday, September 3 at the Madonna Inn Expo Center. Celebrate the holiday weekend with Michael Nowak & Orchestra Novo! Sit back, relax and be swept away by classic and film favorites performed by their beloved local orchestra musicians led by the inimitable Michael Nowak. Picnics are welcome, as are non-alcoholic beverages. Spirits, beer and wine are available for purchase onsite from the Madonna Inn.
This year, the internationally acclaimed violinist, Gilles Apap is their featured soloist. Eclectic and exciting, Gilles is a vivacious and original artist. According to ECHO, “Apap has travelled widely, absorbing musical influences in his formative years. Born in Algeria in 1963, he began playing violin at the age of seven and attended Lyon Conservatory where he acquired what he calls ‘mind fungal disease.’ Rejecting the formalities of the institution, Apap embarked on his own study of folk music, improvisation, and jazz, making pilgrimages to Bulgaria, India, and Alaska. Having once served as concertmaster of the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra, he now performs as a soloist with orchestras throughout the world and with his two ensembles, the Transylvanian Mountain Boys and The Colors of Invention.”
John Lindsey, local weather wizard, is their master of ceremonies.
Tickets are $35; tables of 10 are $350. Sponsored tables are $1,000 and receive complimentary wine and glasses, and premium placement. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., concert starts at 4:00 p.m. For more information call (805) 441-6688, or visit www.OrchestraNovo.org.
