A new boutique hotel – The Inn at The Pier – is being planned for a vacant lot next to the Pismo Beach pier at 601 Cypress St. Santa Barbara-based Postcard Properties and Somera Capital Management—both of which have extensive experience in the resort market—have submitted plans for a 108-room hotel which includes plans for a restaurant, rooftop pool, meeting space, fitness center and underground parking. The hotel is designed in the California modern style and will feature ground-floor retail intended to have lower-cost space for vendors patterned after Seattle’s Pike Place Market. The hotel, which is expected to go to the Planning Commission near year-end, would mark important downtown revitalization for the neighborhood: the 1.2 acre dirt lot has been used for parking for years and has previously been the subject of potential parking structures and hotels.
