NEXUS: Ballroom dance studio and social space in the new San Luis Obispo Public Market is set to open doors on Saturday, March 19th at 6 p.m. with a gala designed for beginners, long-time dancers, and everyone in between. The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony by the SLO Chamber of Commerce, live dance performances by local and out of town artists, live music by Dante Marsh & the Vibesetters, and DJs playing a variety of music throughout the evening.
Alicia Aragon is opening NEXUS with the intention of creating a space to foster community through dance. Whether there for connection, fitness, or fun, SLO and Central Coast residents will find a new community hotspot at NEXUS.
With 15 years of experience in partnership dancing and teaching, Alicia understands the importance of bringing dance as an artform to connect the community. “I want NEXUS to be a home, a place for people to connect authentically, and reap the benefits dance has to offer,” she said. “These include physical and mental health, reconnecting with yourself and others, regaining confidence, and, most importantly, having fun.”
NEXUS offers private lessons to help individuals achieve their reach individual goals — whether that is for a wedding dance, a showcase, a competition, or for health and fitness. Additionally, Alicia will be holding group classes and dance socials showcasing ballroom, swing, tango and salsa. Alicia also plans to have Live Music events in the courtyard of SLO Public Market.
