Thanks to all who participated in the first two weekends of downtown activities as part of the Open SLO program, including those who shared feedback from their experiences—both positive and negative. The Open SLO team welcomes additional input from the community and will continue to refine the Open SLO program based on this feedback.  Due to the holiday this upcoming weekend and other logistical challenges, the following changes will be in effect for the Open SLO program the weekend 7/2-7/5:

  • No road closures on Higuera Street this weekend. Higuera Street businesses will not be allowed to expand seating or displays into the roadway this weekend.
  • Monterey Street from Chorro to Morro will be closed Thursday (7/2) at 5pm through Sunday (7/5) at 9pm. Outdoor dining hours are extended to 9pm.
  • A large peaceful protest is planned Thursday (7/2) afternoon on Monterey Street in front of the County Courthouse. The City will not place any public seating on Monterey Street on this date in order to maintain sufficient room for increased pedestrian traffic. Businesses on the block of Monterey Street between Chorro and Morro have the discretion to choose whether or not to place outdoor seating within the roadway during these activities. Expect traffic delays during the protests.

Open SLO activities are planned to resume the following weekend of 7/9-7/12, with road closures on Monterey and Higuera Streets. Evening hours for outdoor dining will be extended to 9pm for all locations moving forward. Please visit www.OpenSLO.org or email OpenSLO@slocity.org for updates and additional details.
