novoNovo Restaurant and Lounge, in downtown San Luis Obispo will be refreshing its brand identity in the coming months. The restaurant will phase in a slightly updated logo, new menu designs, fonts, and enhanced color palate and a new website to complete the project by the end of 2017. Since opening their doors in 2003, innovation has been the backbone of Novo, even the name means “new” in Brazilian Portuguese. The goal and focus in refreshing the brand is to design an enhanced look and feel while still representing Novo’s classic and iconic location in downtown SLO – and the many contrasting layers that create the guest experience: playful yet classy, modern yet eclectic, luxurious yet dynamic and global flavors using locally sourced ingredients.

“We never want to stop innovating or become stagnant. In response to our ever-changing community, culture, environment, work force and seasonal bounty, it’s inevitable that Novo must evolve. It has always been our priority to keep Novo fresh and relevant for the community that it belongs to,” said Novo owner, Robin Covey.

The marketing team of Blue Mango Management (parent company to Novo and sister restaurants Luna Red, Robin’s, Café Fiero and Mint+Craft) started the project earlier this summer with help from branding design consultant, Melody Shirazi. The objective was to support the brand promise of beautiful ambiance, great cuisine and remarkable hospitality by creating an enhanced identity package that more accurately reflects who Novo is.

“After 14 years with the original branding Novo is ready to shine in a new way and we’re all thrilled to help that happen at a time when San Luis Obispo is developing in so many ways,” adds Molly Kiely, Novo Marketing Director.
