“Rotary International made a commitment in 1985 to support the worldwide effort to eradicate polio. Joining with the World Health Organization and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, more than 2.5 billion children have been immunized against polio,” said Melinda Thomas, Assistant Governor Rotary District 5240. “We are part of an organization made up of more than 1.2 million people who, together, can make a huge difference in the world.”
Rotary is an international group of 1.2 million people with 35,000 clubs. Founded in 1905, Rotary’s mission is to encourage people to better the world, one project at a time, focusing on solving real problems around the globe, such as literacy, disease and conflict.
