The Prado Road Interchange is a long-awaited enhancement to Highway 101 that will reduce travel delays, allow for easier access to Highway 101 with new northbound on- and off-ramps, and support the creation of more housing in San Luis Obispo. When completed, the Prado Interchange will connect Dalidio Road and the new San Luis Ranch neighborhoods with Prado Road, creating an additional multimodal thoroughfare in San Luis Obispo.

The City and Caltrans are working closely together to plan and design this interchange. The environmental report is available for public review and feedback, and is available for review on the slocity.org/prado website (click on the Prado Interchange button). The community is also welcome to provide feedback on the bridge and interchange design, though Caltrans will determine and approve the final design.

City of SLO Corporation Yard, 25 Prado Rd.

Currently, the Prado Bridge Widening Project is under design, which affects businesses, residents and commuters between S. Higuera St. and Highway 101. The City is in the design and planning stages for the Prado Bridge, with construction anticipated to start in Summer 2024 and conclude in Fall 2026.

The Prado Interchange is a partnership between the City of San Luis Obispo, the County of San Luis Obispo (SLOCOG) and Caltrans, and includes funding from the San Luis Ranch development. Construction will commence after the Prado Bridge is open to traffic and is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with an approximate three-year timeline to completion.
