Flavor of SLO, a community event featuring tastings of local restaurants, wineries and breweries, is returning on Saturday, April 30 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Jack House & Gardens in Downtown San Luis Obispo. Dozens of Central Coast businesses will come together on the grassy lawns of the Jack House & Gardens to sample some of their finest food and drink offerings to attendees. In addition to the tastings, the event will feature live music by Rio Salinas featuring Louie Ortega, as well as a wide selection of silent auction baskets. Tickets can be purchased at www.flavorofslo.com, and are $45 presale and $50 at the door. Students with valid IDs can receive presale tickets for $35. Only 75 student tickets will be made available.
Attendees will be able to sample a wide variety of local cuisine. Past vendors have included Cottonwood Canyon Winery, Spike’s Pub, Splash Cafe, Broken Earth Winery, Central Coast Brewing, Old San Luis BBQ and many more. We look forward to bringing back these great establishments, as well as introducing a few more. In total, there will be approximately 30 vendors to sample throughout the event.
Flavor of SLO is a fundraiser for the United Way of San Luis Obispo County and was originally created eight years ago as a Cal Poly student senior project. For the past two years, Flavor of SLO has been organized by the Rotaract Club of San Luis Obispo, a community based service organization for Central Coast 18 to 30 year old young professionals, and a part of Rotary International.
“We are so excited to partner again with Rotaract | SLO for this year’s Flavor of SLO event because of their commitment to enriching and serving the San Luis Obispo Community. We feel that their values closely align with United Ways’, and we look forward to continuing this partnership in the future,” stated Leslie McKinley, resource development director for the United Way of San Luis Obispo County.
Flavor of SLO is sponsored by the City of SLO, Left Coast T-Shirt Company, Heritage Oaks Bank, Judy Kambestad in honor of Katchy Andrews, The Mortgage House and Madonna Inn. Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.
