The Mortgage House (1)The Homeless Foundation of San Luis Obispo County is closing in on the goal of raising $5.4 million for its campaign to build a new homeless services center at 40 Prado Road. The Central Coast Realtors Charitable Foundation is spearheading a capital campaign, dubbed “Agents for Change,” and has committed to raising $50,000 from brokers, agents and affiliated businesses. To date, more than $15,000 has been pledged, including contributions from the following companies and community members:

  • Central Coast Mortgage Consultants – $5,000
  • First American Title – $2,500
  • Central Coast Realty Group – $2,500
  • The Mortgage House – $1,000
  • Linda Osty, Osty Insurance – $1,000
  • Nancy Allison, Keller Williams Realty – $1,000
  • Tim Townley, Comet Realty – $1,000
  • Graham Updegrove, California Coastal Real Estate – $1,000

All funds raised by Agents for Change will count toward the recent anonymous $250,000 matching donation gifted to 40 Prado last month. With about $700,000 left to be raised, every dollar is a step toward breaking ground this fall.

40 Prado will replace the aging Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter and the Prado Day Center. The new center will combine the services of both facilities, streamlining current programs with significant cost saving over time. 40 Prado is envisioned as a clean and safe haven for those in need, single mothers, children, returning veterans, and others who find themselves homeless due to poverty, job loss, emotional hardship/illness, or other economically disabling situations. A fall groundbreaking is anticipated for construction.
