slo botanical gardenThe San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is growing this year! After 19 years of dedicated service to the Garden as the Operations Director, Debra Hoover, retired at the end of 2018.  Two new staff members joined the leadership team on January 2, 2019.  The Garden welcomes Chenda Lor as Executive Director and Amanda Strosnider as Development Director.  Lindsey Morgan remains at the helm as Education Director. The Garden is confident that the proclaimed “Dream Team” of three will launch its 30th year to the next level.

Chenda Lor has over 25 years of business management and construction experience, and a double science degree from Bates College. This experience, combined with her passion for community service, has prepared her for this dream job.  She’s an 18 year resident of San Luis Obispo, a mom to four amazing young adults and a 90 pound puppy, a Rotarian, and surfer. Chenda is a well-traveled steward of the planet who intends to share her love of nature by growing the Community’s connection to our beloved Botanical Garden.

Amanda Strosnider has a background in Business and Sustainability from Arizona State University. She is passionate about environmental awareness and making nature accessible for everybody. Her mission is to help the Garden serve as a sanctuary for the community through establishing a world-class resource for education and recreational enjoyment.

The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is a grass-roots non-profit organization, currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of its conception. We invite you to visit the Garden’s Gift Shop or upcoming events to meet the new leadership team at the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden.

About San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden

San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is a grass-roots non-profit, located at 3450 Dairy Creek Rd. It is spread out on 150 acres in El Chorro Regional Park off Highway One between Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo. When the master plan is complete, the Garden will be the only garden of its kind in the United States exclusively devoted to the ecosystems and plants of the five mediterranean climate regions of the world. Through its programs and facilities, the Garden fosters an appreciation and understanding of the relationship between people and nature and encourages a sense of stewardship for the natural environment.
