Why fight your weeds when you can eat them instead? Join Seattle-based ethnobotanist and author Melany Vorass Herrera in the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden’s Oak Glen Pavilion on Wednesday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. for the “weeds walk” and learn how to identify and gather some of common edible weeds and wild foods available in the area. Whether they’re terrorizing your lawn and garden or growing rampant in the wilderness, weeds are a free source of super nutritional food available for the picking. This hands-on workshop includes discussion on gathering ethics, local rules and regulations, safety, and general information about how to cook with weeds. The walk will begin at 6 p.m. with a wine reception meet and greet prior at 5:30 p.m.
Class and a glass of wine is $10 for Garden members and $15 for public. No pre-registration required. For more information, visit slobg.org/weeds.
