City Farm San Luis Obispo, a 19 acre non-profit urban educational farm in San Luis Obispo, is pleased to announce its upcoming second annual Sheep Shearing Shindig! The event will take place from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 1221 Calle Joaquin, between the 101 Freeway and Froom Ranch Way.

Come out for a Spring afternoon of entertainment, education, and excitement for folks of all ages. The Sheep Shearing Shindig will be a community event that supports City Farm’s mission of promoting sustainable agriculture and farm-based education.

The public will watch the process of sheep being sheared and will learn about the benefits of using wool from sustainably raised sheep and activities of Central Coast small livestock ranchers. The event will include hands-on activities, including washing newly-sheared wool, spinning, carding and felting.

Hayride tours of the Farm and sales of City Farm-grown produce and vegetable starts will offer additional experiences of the benefits of local urban agriculture. Brick and Mortar Caterers will prepare dishes made with City Farm vegetables. Live music will be provided by the local award-winning band, Miss Leo and the Handsome Fellers.

Admission is free for children under 12 and $10 per adult.
