carbon neutral slo cityCities and states are leading the way in addressing the causes and impacts of climate change. In California’s Central Coast, the fight took a historic turn in September when the City of San Luis Obispo City Council gave unanimous direction to update the Climate Action Plan with the goal of being carbon neutral by 2035, the most ambitious goal in the nation! To support this effort, the SLO Climate Coalition is hosting the Climate Solution Series, a number of events created to engage the community around the Climate Action Plan update and the new solutions it brings to the table.

On April 30, 2019, the Kickoff Celebration will bring together important San Luis Obispo community leaders and non-profits who will be key players in the effort to achieve community-wide carbon neutrality by 2035. The Kickoff Celebration will be held at SLO Brew from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Joining our panel discussion will be City of San Luis Obispo Mayor Heidi Harmon, Chamber of Commerce CEO Jim Dantona, and Cal Poly Energy, Utilities and Sustainability Director Dennis Elliot.  The conversation will focus on the opportunities presented by a commitment to a deep reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and how the community can work together to achieve this historic goal.

Join us for a fun evening, prizes and climate solutions! Come network with community leaders and learn more about how we can reach this historic goal together.
