Put on your Superhero Costume and join the SLO County Food Bank in their mission to alleviate hunger and build a healthier community by contributing to or participating in their Annual Hunger Walk! One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Hunger Walk will be used by the Food Bank to provide nutritious food to the 46,000 residents in SLO County who face food scarcity.
“Feeding the hungry throughout the year with our 200 agency partners is serious work. But we don’t take ourselves that seriously. We look forward to running around in capes and having a serious good time at this year’s Hunger Walk,” said Food Bank CEO Kevin Drabinski.
This year’s superhero themed Hunger Walk + 5K will take place at Laguna Lake Park, 504 Madonna Rd, San Luis Obispo. Registration begins that Saturday morning at 9 with a welcome program beginning at 9:30. The Walk + 5K will both start at 10. The party continues afterward with a beer garden hosted by Tap It Brewing Co. as well as food trucks, family friendly games, face painting, a vendor fair, photo booth, costume contest and awards.
Participants are encouraged to register and fundraise online as individuals or teams. Event registration includes participation in the Hunger Walk + 5k, a cool graphic t-shirt, swag bag, and first beer free for those over 21. Participants 17 and under are free. Adults are $35.
